# The city of Machu Pichu
This is a fifteenth-century pre-Columbian Inca settlement located in a mountain range above the Urubamba Valley in the province of Cuzco, Peru. It is known as the lost city of the Incas. This city is built at a height of 2430 meters above sea level.
Archaeologists believe that this city was built as the residence of the Inca emperor Pacha Kuti. It is believed that this was a very strong city by 1450 AD, and it was abandoned after the arrival of the Spaniards in Peru about a hundred years later.
The hidden city of Machu Pichu was rediscovered on July 24, 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham. Bingham and his team’s excavations have also found over 40,000 artifacts such as mummies, pottery, silver figurines, jewelry, and bones. Tikal was the main urban center of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization. According to archaeologists, Tikal was the most powerful city of the ancient Maya. It is one of the largest archaeological sites in Guatemala. Also, the city of Tikal is a city where agriculture was very developed.
Traces of agriculture have been found in this city around 1000 BC. They are proof that agriculture was flourishing in this city. Also, many constructions in this city are made of limestone.
Among the ruins of this city are large palaces, small mansions, small pyramids, common people’s houses, administrative buildings, platforms, amazing structures and 70 meters high towers. The period from 200 to 900 AD marks Tikal’s heyday. There the economic, political and military power rested with the Mesoamerican peoples.
The city was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979. As well as, Tikal Park was started in 1955 for the protection of this ancient city.
# The city of Petra
Petra in Jordan is another hidden city from the world. The city is believed to have been built by the Nebatians, an ancient South Arabian people. This city was located on the trade route between South Asia and Greece. It is also said that the Nebatians came to Jordan around the 6th century BC and worked hard to build a great civilization.
The word Petra is derived from the Greek word ‘petros Greek’. It means ‘rock’. This city is also known as ‘Red City’ because of the red and pink sandstone rocks.
According to the findings of archaeologists, this city was built keeping in mind the path of the sun. This city has to be entered through a crater. As well as the fact that it was built to withstand the desert climate is a special feature of this city.
The buildings of this city are built from the same stone on which the city is built. The architect here is unique. As it was located on a trade route, caravans had to enter this town to get water before their destination.

# The city of Pompeii
The city of Pompeii, located in Italy, is a city that left a great tragedy to the world. Mount Vesuvius, considered one of the most active volcanoes in the world, is located near the city of Pompeii in Italy.
In AD 70, the eruption of this volcano completely covered the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum with ash. Few of the inhabitants survived. But a large number of them were buried in the city itself. With the passage of time, this city was forgotten by the world. That is the story of the ruins of Pompeii.
In the first century AD, the city developed as a port city. The city also had a large number of Roman houses, a theatre, several churches and an advanced irrigation system. The city was also highly developed due to the presence of a developed port.
Due to frequent earthquakes, buildings in the city were severely damaged. Because of this, the people who lived in the city left it and went to the city of Rome. The remaining inhabitants were also buried alive in a volcanic eruption in AD 70. The city was completely covered with ash.
